There are over two lakh traders in the city who operate from rented properties in commercial areas. Most of them pay less than Rs 3,000 a month as rent for shops in prime locations. The Supreme Court order could lead to their eviction.

The process of regularisation of unauthorised colonies in the capital will be completed in another five to six months, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said on Tuesday.
A notification for regularisation of more than 1,500 unauthorised colonies in Delhi was issued by the Union Urban Development Ministry on March 24.
