MCD seals commercial units
Shops of traders who have still not paid their conversion charges for running their establishments in the city were sealed by the MCD on Tuesday. The sealing squad of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) took action on six commercial units, including a branch of a public sector bank, for alleged non-payment of conversion charges within the stipulated time frame.
The building department of central zone carried out the sealing drive on notified roads in Lajpat Nagar. It is mandatory for those running commercial units on roads notified as commercial or mixed-land use to pay annual conversion charges to the MCD.
As per MPD-2021, all eligible property owners running commercial activities from their premises situated on notified roads are required to deposit annual conversion charges.
