Illegal Colonies will be regularise : Shiela Dikshit
9 04 2008The process of regularisation of unauthorised colonies in the capital will be completed in another five to six months, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said on Tuesday.
A notification for regularisation of more than 1,500 unauthorised colonies in Delhi was issued by the Union Urban Development Ministry on March 24.
Delhi government will now be responsible for deciding the various aspects pertaining to the regularisation process, such as fixing of boundaries and taking development charges from the residents.
The move is significant in view of the fact that Assembly Elections are scheduled to be held in Delhi later this year.
“The process of regularisation will take at least five to six months,” Dikshit told reporters after meeting Union Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy.
“We came to thank the Centre for entrusting Delhi government with the responsibility of regularising the colonies,” she said.
The colonies will be regularised as per the guidelines issued by the Union Urban Development Ministry in October last year.
