Delhi Sealing : BJP announced ‘Jail Bharo Andolan’ against sealing and demolition
20 01 2008The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday announced that it would launch a “jail bharo” agitation if the Delhi Government and the Centre fail to stop demolition and sealing operations in the Capital.
The BJP leader charged that the two governments wanted to drive out a large number of people from Delhi. He also accused them of being hand in glove with the land mafia.
Addressing a dharna at Jantar Mantar, Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan said the people of Delhi were suffering as a result of infighting between the State Government and the Centre. “Neither sealing and demolition are being stopped, nor are unauthorised colonies being regularised by the Government. Also, the Central as well as the State government is not pleading the cases in the court properly,” said Dr. Vardhan.
Dr. Vardhan also added that, with an eye on Delhi Assembly elections, the State Government was misleading the people by announcing construction of five mega-cities and four lakh houses for the poor while the city was facing a scarcity of water and power. Senior BJP leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra told the BJP workers that the people of Delhi were facing problems of basic amenities in the Capital and were apprehensive about failure of law and order.
