Delhi Sealing : Delhi High Court has noted illegal construction

November 26th, 2007 admin

The Delhi High court has noted that more than 18,000 buildings in Delhi have illegal construction, several of these have fourth and fifth floors.

In the first scenario, those fourth and fifth floors, which are in Delhi’s 1500 unauthorised colonies, will be spared because they have been granted amnesty till December 31, 2008.

Despite strict instructions from the court, the government has not taken any action against these buildings. Yesterday the court said that in 15 days, it wants to see a plan for sealing or demolishing these buildings.

According to the MCD list of unauthorised construction, as per the High Court order, several homes in CR Park, Lajpat Nagar Part I and II, Jangpura A, and Sidharth Extension Pocket-C, areas of south Delhi face demolition.

According to the HC committee, the total no of properties is around 18000.
