The Ghost of Sealing Again Terrorise to Delhites
The sword of sealing is again on delhites but MCD refused to do sealing the matter become controversial between MCD and the Moniitoring Committe.
The sealing drive against illegal commercial activity in the city will now be extended to shops in unauthorised colonies of the city.
The Supreme Court-appointed Monitoring Committee has recently directed the civic authorities to begin sealing commercial establishments in unauthorised and unregularised colonies on government and private land. As per directions given out on August 14 to the MCD, DDA and the Land Acquisition Collector, the civic authorities were to begin sealing on stretches that were not notified in the 2021 Masterplan.
While the sealing was supposed to begin from August 20, shopkeepers in the 1,432 colonies that are marked for regularisation by the Urban Development Ministry, have got a temporary breather as the MCD has decided to approach Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy.
“These colonies are to be regularised by the Union Government as announced by them in February this year. We are going to meet the Urban Development Minister to intervene and inform the court about the status of these colonies,” AQccording to MCD Standing Committee Chairman Vijender Gupta.
“We have decided not to begin sealing in unauthorised colonies till the matter is resolved with the court and the Monitoring Committee,” added Subhash Arya, Leader of the House in the MCD.
