Delhi traders mourn death of `visionary’ Sahib Singh Verma
2 07 2007The traders’ community in Delhi today expressed shock and grief over the tragic demise of former Delhi Chief Minister and Union Cabinet Minister Sahib Singh Verma.
In a release to the media, Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary-General of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), described Verma as an admirer and strong supporter for trading community in Delhi.
“A true visionary who took our problems of sealing and demolition to the highest forum of the land, his great contribution to see Delhi continuing as undisputed distribution centre of trade can never been underestimated,” said Khandelwal.
“The man who initiated the process of urbanisation of Delhi villages and rural areas was having a dream of empowering the downtrodden sections of the society,will be remembered for the years to come,” he said.
Verma died in a road accident in Shahjahanpur while on his way back to the capital from Ajmer.
